At Selfless Art, we believe there is another perspective that deserves equal attention: your peers.
Portfolio Perspectives gives artists the opportunity to receive feedback from artists who have done the work themselves. Artists who have built portfolios, applied to exhibitions, approached galleries, presented their work, and navigated the realities of building an practice.

Because sometimes the most useful perspective comes from someone who understands the experience firsthand.

You can get feedback almost anywhere.
From friends. Other artists. Professors. Mentors. Curators. Gallerists. Collectors. Online communities.
But not all feedback answers the same question.
Portfolio Perspectives is not about telling you whether your work is good, whether someone likes it, or what you should change about your art. It is about giving you another set of eyes on how your work is being presented.
Why presentation matters
The work should always be able to speak for itself. But before someone has the opportunity to spend time with the work, they encounter its presentation. A collector, gallery, curator, or institution may first experience an artist through a portfolio. The organization of the work, works selected, sequencing, written materials, and overall presentation can influence whether someone continues looking. A strong body of work can be overlooked when the portfolio makes it difficult to understand or engage with the practice. Presentation doesn’t replace the work. It helps the work get seen.

What makes peer feedback important?
There is value in hearing from industry professionals. But artists offer a perspective that is overlooked.
They understand the decisions that go into presenting a portfolio because they’ve had to make those decisions themselves.
Portfolio Perspectives creates a space for artists to exchange that knowledge and offer perspective on how one another’s work is being presented.

Try Portfolio Perspectives free for 7 days and receive a brief portfolio perspective from Selfless Art focused on the organization and presentation of your portfolio.
After your trial, you can continue into the six-month Portfolio Perspectives program and begin receiving feedback from participating artists.

A portfolio takes time.
A strong portfolio can take weeks, sometimes months, to develop.
Your practice changes. New work is created. Older work may no longer belong. Your priorities shift. The way you want to present your work can evolve.
Your portfolio should be able to evolve with it.
Portfolio Perspectives isn’t designed to produce a finished portfolio in a single session or within six months.
The work will begin here and may continue beyond the program.
