Rowan Foley

Rowan Foley's Delusions and Dreams traces a shift away from specificity and toward something more abstract: figures stripped of identity, bodies held in color, and emotions that do not need to be named before they can be felt. The works featured document a evolution not only in Rowan's work, but the way she was hoping the viewer would connect to the figures.

“With my work, I hope to open conversations for my viewers that they might not expect to experience when going to see art...”
 Rowan

Making peace with her shadow.

Selfless Art had the opportunity to sit down with Rowan for a conversation that went far beyond the work itself. What emerged was raw and honest. Rowan opened up about confronting her shadow, letting go of the need for approval, and experiencing what she describes as an ego death. In letting go of who she thought she needed to be as an artist, she found a different way of engaging with her work.
